28 November 2007 - 16:30What causes a riding lawn mower to almost cut off and then start running again?

Pamela asked:

My lawn mower has a new battery. I just filled it up with gas. It will slow down and act like it’s going to cut off. Then it will speed up and the motor sounds normal again. It does this about every two or three minutes.
I noticed a puff of black smoke while it was still running. Sometimes when I cut the mower off it backfires.

26 November 2007 - 23:51How do I tune up a lawn mower?

kinstmatt asked:

I have a murray riding lawn mower. Ever since I flipped it upside down it runs rough and dies often. After it ran upside down for a minute till it died, I took the spark plug out and cranked it over several times to remove the oil from the top end. New spark plug and oil change.

I also have a push mower that won’t stay running. Do mowers have fuel filters?

20 November 2007 - 21:36How do you protect a lawn mower from the elements?

Andy asked:

I have a two car garage with two cars in it, and there isn’t any room for a lawn mower. Everything else fits in nicely, but now I have had to cover the mower with a heavy, big, blue tarp to protect it from the rain (Houston gets a lot of it). Sheds are really expensive, and I really only need to protect one thing.

I’ve thought of hanging it from the walls or ceiling in the garage, but worry that it might fall on the cars. I’m looking for an inexpensive, effective solution which doesn’t detract from the landscaping or risk damage to my cars. What are your ideas?

17 November 2007 - 0:00my lawn has big dead patches. What should i do this fall to help it come back through the winter?

pumpkin16 asked:

Both front and back lawns have big dead patches. We stuck to the watering rules laid down by the city. Want to know what is the proper way to care for lawn before winter comes and to give it the best chance come spring time.

15 November 2007 - 3:09Does lawn need special care in the spring?

Belindita asked:

This will be the first Spring that we will have a backyard, but we have no idea what special treatments (if any) our lawn needs in the Spring.
Also, if it does need a special treatment, can you do it yourself or do you have to hire a company to do it?

13 November 2007 - 15:47Has anyone ever been to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Bonnor Springs, KS?

Ladybug asked:

I want to go see Aerosmith and they’re going to be at VWA in Bonnor Springs. Do you recommend lawn seats? I’ve heard good things about them and also they are cheeeeaper!! I don’t care if I’m front row really. They say as long as you get there early and get towards the front of the “lawn area” they’re good. What do you think? I think tickets are $65 a piece for lawn seats. Good deal or nay?

10 November 2007 - 10:24How do I keep my lawn mower level when mowing the grass between the sidewalk and the curb?

Mad dad asked:

I have bermudagrass in my front yard, and I like to let it grow rather high. The problem I have is when mowing the strip of grass between the sidewalk and th ecurb, I always end up with an uneven cut because the lawn mower is cutting at an angle. In other words, the lawn mower is not wide enough to completely straddle the grass with both wheels on the sidewalk, so it causes an uneven cut.

Any tricks to make it look more even and clean??

1 November 2007 - 8:01The Spring thaw and dog crap galore?

what ever asked:

We moved into a house this winter that was previously occupied by a family with 5 dogs who never picked up the poop. So now the spring thaw is upon us and we are finding obscene amounts of dog crap all over the yard. How do we take care of this as it is all , melty (ick). Is there anyway to effectively clean the lawn and have it safe for our kids to play on it?
