mystic_eye_cda asked: I was raking up the miscellaneous left-over leaves, crab apples, and garbage from my lawn and of course some of the dead grass came up with it.
And I know (from looking around) that a lot of people rake up all the dead grass and then throw out bags and bags of it. And many people don’t. I’m not much of a gardener so I’m wondering…
What are the pros and cons of raking up the dead stuff vs leaving it to decompose on its own?

I thought you left it in the fall to protect the grass from the snow?
Did I mention I grew up in an apartment.
Mind you my lawn is 50% grass at best so why am I bothering =))
PS the grass gets composted by the city. I just don’t have space for that much compost.
