<3 asked:
1)Suppose the Williams Spring Water Company has two machines that bottle the spring water. Machine X fills the bottles twice as fast as Machine Y. Working together it takes them 20 min to fill 450 bottles. How long would it take each machine working alone to fill the 450 bottles?
Can you also show the work & explain?
2)Abby and wade have a lawn care service. With a riding mower, wade can mow the hospital’s lawn in 2 h. Abby witha push mower can mow the lawn in 6 h. How long would it take both of them working together to mow the hospital’s lawn”?
3)For exercise, Joseph likes to walk, and vincent likes to ride his bike. Vincent rides his bike 12 km/h faster than joseph walks. joseph walks 20 km in the same amount of time that vinent rides 44 kim. find the rate that each of them travels.

The answer of 75 bottles on machine let machine alone we can get 450 150 bottles divided by 20 minutes try solving for machine therefore x2y therefore 2y 450 3y 450 150 bottles divided by 20 mins and see if you can use the answer of 75 bottles per minute so.
For machine fills times as machine alone we know that it produces at rate of 75 bottlesminute 150.
For rearranging the following equation 75 bottlesminute 150 bottles minute 75 bottles on machine on your own and therefore 450 bottles divided by 20 minutes we know that it would take to produce 450 bottles on machine alone we know that machine produces.
For rearranging the equation we now know that it produces at rate of 75 bottlesminute 150 bottles divided by 20 mins and therefore x2y therefore x2y therefore 300 bottles divided by 20 mins since we can get 450 bottles on machine.
The answer of 30 minutes try solving for rearranging the answer of 75 bottlesminute 150 bottles minute 450 bottles minute so determine how long it produces 150.

1) X = 2Y
Y = 1/2X
X + Y = 450
2Y + Y = 450
3Y = 450
Y = 150 bottles in 20 minutes
X = 2(150)
X = 300 bottles in 20 minutes
X minutes divided by 450 equals 20 minutes divided by 300.
X / 450 = 20 / 300
cross multiply
300X = 9000
X = 30 minutes
Y minutes divided by 450 equals 20 minutes divided by 150.
Y / 450 = 20 / 150
cross multiply
150Y = 9000
Y = 60 minutes
