Have time on my hands, and see no reason to pay the overly high price people charge for yard work.

I have a straight lawn, no golf green type look, main grasss in front and only a little in the back. Don’t want expense of riding lawn mower. Want to get one easy to work. For some strange reason when young my father did not want my brother and I to mow the yard, he didn’t either?????????????????

So am starting from scratch, but this is not rocket science. A friend warned me about not getting one that you have change each wheel for lever. Basics on buying and doing appreciated, such as dumping grass, maintaining, basically what need to do.

In addition, where to buy and about how much to pay is also a question.

Any thoughts much appreicated.

I used ortho weed be gone to kill weeds and crabgrass that were overrrunning my lawn. I went away for a few weeks and when i came back there were brown spots all over the lawn. There are not really many bare spots, but where the grass is brown the ground has become “sandy” and bumpy. Do I need to do something to the soil? I still have weeds and some crabgrass. Should I put a fertilizer with weed killer down now or just wait til the spring for that? Is it more important to seed now or to get the lawn under control with respect to weeds? Please help. The lawn was great when we moved in last year, but we did not take good care of it this year and it looks terrible. Can we get it back?????

My dog doesn’t have any allergy problens. Until after the first tru green visit. She starts to itch and sneeze. Will chew at skin until raw. Vet took a scraping of her skin and confirmed allergy. When she starts to get over it there back with another application and it starts all over. It is the tru green. My groomer has confirmed also. I have seen this happen to many other dogs. If they are indeed slinging cat pee and water. Cat pee is some of strongest stuff around, could make anything sick. Shouldn’t be paying good money for that?

But they have not been fertilized of for at least 3 to 4 years. I think they have been pruned down but not carefully done–just pretty much pruned to keep the size not too big to not interfere with the wires in the neighborhood. They are planted with lawn grass around them and the lawn has been cared for–fertilized and watered regularly… so it looks healthy.

I’d like to get these trees to produce fruits again. Right now they produce tiny lil fruits that don’t look too appetizing. Leaf-growth looks good–green and plenty.

Can someone tell me if I can use Ammonium Sulfate for all three of them for fertlizer? I’m also planning on fertilizing them in early spring around Feb next year—is that a good time? I live in the bay area in California.. hardiness zone 9.
