16 December 2007 - 13:38What type of fertilizer to use this time of year in dallas?

shahaly asked:

We just bought a home in north Dallas, Texas and the aside from the laws, everything is pretty good. The old owners didn’t take care of the lawns at all.

The grass is really really dry — at the point of being between white and brown.

So my questions are:

1. What kind of fertilizer should I use and when should I use it? The average temperature these days is around 70 degrees.

2. How many times / how often should I apply the fertilizer?

3. How many times should I water the lawn?

4. Would it be better to get the grass replated? However, I want to streer clear of high charges.

I really want the lawn to look amazing come spring, so any suggestions would be helpful.
