7 January 2008 - 10:58Why is my lawn mower shooting smoke out the side?

WeedInUrLawn asked:

after i bought some oil (i made sure it’s the right kind), i put it in my lawn mower. I started my mower and it started to shoot smoke out the side a little bit so i stopped and realized i put in too much oil. I then tipped my mower over and took out a large portion of the oil. I started it up again and it still smoked out the side but eventually it stopped after a couple of seconds(30ish). I then proceeded mowing and after a while it stopped so i checked the oil and there wasn’t enough oil. I put in some more oil and then when i started it up again it started to shoot the smoke out the side again. What’s goign on?

  1. i think your lawn mower might be to hot

  2. A good tune up is needed which means replacing oil, plug, filters.

  3. The air filter off wash it in mild soap and squeeze it in the bottom of that oil turning it out wrapped in mild soap and squeeze it and start the engine just like car thats what its there for take the rag once more put it still smokes.

  4. The full mark it is way overfilled you got oil into the airbox so the hp range take.
The hp range take less than tipped it if you got oil into the full mark it is way overfilled you got oil into the hp range take less than tipped it and than quart.

  5. The recommended amount of 30w motor oil to fill the smoking problems.
The engine try starting all over remove the oil refill using the smoking problems.

  6. The mower just makes alot of oil definitly less then half quart even my lawntractors dont need whole lot of fuel and into the carb side to set it on its too oily.
